Estela I. Dorn, who was born, raised and educated in the Philippines, became a member of Mobile International Festival in 1985 a year after she and her husband, Chuck, attended their first festival. Her immediate love and admiration for the educational and cultural art mission of the festival led to her active involvement. Soon she found herself heading different committees that eventually led to the presidency of the festival. While she was at it, she realized that for the festival to better serve the community, it was important to expand its mission to a bigger scope regionally, nationally and internationally. To make this happen, the organization must grow; thus, the position of Executive Director was created. Her professional experience in management, public relations, advertising and marketing compounded with work experience in many other fields had helped her immensely in fundraising and managing Mobile International Festival. After her retirement in 2010, she is proud to see the continuation of the vision of the founder, Dr. Annelle Jerome, together with the other original members of the board and officers as it moves on to meet the demands of educating the youth to learn and appreciate the world of its many cultures and people.
