VIETNAMESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Vietnamese New Year was celebrated on Sunday, February 3, 2008 by the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Veteran Association.
The original date for the Vietnamese New Year or Tet is February 7, 2008. This coincides with the date of the Chinese New Year. Both countries use the same lunisolar calendar.
I was honored to be a guest and present with the group as they celebrated the coming year. This group of gentlemen told of many great celebrations of the past but since this is now a small group of men, this celebration was a banquet in the home of one of the members.
Truat Nguyen spoke concerning the involvement of the association with Mobile International Festival. He mentioned how proud his association is to be involved with the festival to share the heritage and culture of Vietnam to students.
