FIRST BATCH OF FILIPINO TEACHERS IN
BALDWIN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM

Chuck and Estela Dorn together with Guada Ellington, president of Filipino-American Association of Greater Mobile, and other Filipino members met and welcomed the first five teachers from the Philippines. They were recruited by Dr. Thomas Sisk, Supervisor, Department of Human Resources of Baldwin County Public Schools. These teachers were recruited to meet the shortage of teachers in Baldwin County.
A few weeks later, the second
group arrived to complete a total of twelve teachers who are all assigned
to different schools in Baldwin County. These qualified teachers have
been teaching in various schools, both public and private, in the Philippines.
They will be teaching in the areas of Special Education and Science.
