How does one celebrate a milestone? By making it a bigger and better, people-friendly festival! True to form to the ambiance created by Mobile International Festival, prepare to have fun as you explore the world on Saturday, November 22nd at the Mobile Civic Center and Expo Hall from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. It will continue to bring smiles to the children and adults when they step into their Passport to Adventure! A Parade of Flags start the Opening Ceremony, followed by the Children’s Chorus and an address from special guest, former Costa Rica President Rodrigo Carazo-Odio.

Prepare for the adventure as you visit the continents of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Make new friends from 70 countries. Shop for unique items like hand-painted Ukrainian Pysanky eggs, crafts by Slovak Roma gypsies, and many more. Step into the Butterfly Garden. See the photographs of your festival friends by Stephen Savage at the Art Gallery. Have fun at the Storytelling/Puppet Room.

Follow the musical sounds from the Lobby, Main Arena and Expo Hall stages. Join dancers as they dance the tango, salsa and rumba at Expo Hall. Catch the strolling musicians from Mexico and Panama. Music is the soul of culture as proven by returning artists. Matsuriza Traditional Japanese Drummers, Runa Pacha from the Andes, Kenya Safari Acrobats, Freddie Omar Con Su Banda, guitarist John de Chiaro, Celtic musician Red McWilliams, McGuire Irish Band, Tim Morris (didgeridoo musician), storyteller Akbar Imhotep, accordionist Julie Council and European Artists Company puppeteers from Slovakia will bring their distinctive art and music to the celebration! New this year are John Scalici who will introduce the circle of drums; artist, storyteller and musician Noel Morrison, an aboriginal from Australia; Noklae Band consisting of Hmong children from the highlands of Thailand; and fresh from this year’s Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago – Queen Susanna Low resplendent in her winning costume for a taste of world-renowned Carnival! Plus many more performers from different countries.

What is a festival without scrumptious and delicious food, desserts and exotic drinks from 32 countries located at the Main Arena and Expo Hall. Enjoy the fusion of foods of the world and non-stop entertainment in what many call as “International Food Fest”. Purchase food and drinks with cash. Food tokens valued at $0.50 each from previous years are still acceptable. No more lines to purchase food tokens!
